Approval of Minutes Two corrections were made to the minutes to reflect the Susan Spaulding was not in attendance and the Fred Banta was in attendance at the January 2006 meeting. Moved to accept: L. Trudeau; Second: E. Toons V. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda No members of the public were present. New member Tim Gilpin was introduced. Scott Robson, the new Director of the Land Management Department for Louisville was introduced. Scott has been "on- board" with the Department for about three weeks. Scott provided information about himself and discussed general issues for the Department of Land Management. Near term items of interest: Open Space regulations, the management of the Community Park, City landscape maintenance contract, and the Forestry Ordinance. Scott also discussed the make -up of the Department and plans to hire a horticulturist. The horticulturalist would complement Chris Lichty's efforts and work with the Board. Susan Spaulding requested that a member of HFAB participate in the hiring of the horticulturists and Scott acknowledged that it would be appropriate to have a member of the Board participate. VI. Goal Setting — 2006 Initiatives and Projects Continued to the March meeting. VII. Community Park Vegetation Management Recommendations Theresa has taken the lead with Chris to develop a Community Park plant management guide. The guide is in process of being developed. Chris was unable to get the documents printed in time for the meeting. Chris will send the Board members what has been completed so far and give Board members an 'opportunity to add ideas and information. Comments from HFAB members are to be submitted to Chris Lichty by a week before the March HFAB. At the March meeting discussion will be held regarding the final steps for implementing the guideline will be determined. A draft can be provided to the Department to review during March with the objective of having it completed by the April HFAB meeting. VIII. Discussion concerning encroachments of gardens, trees and shrubs on open space
