Gateway Signage, Landscaping, Management and Redesign <br />Nothing further has been done on the development of the Gateway plans. Chris <br />Lichty reported that funding for the Gateway project was not approved for 2006. <br />XIII. Horticultural and Forestry Advisory Board Award <br />Susan Spaulding is leading this initiative. Susan was not in attendance and the <br />topic was held over to the February meeting. <br />XIV. Residential Landscape Design Guidelines <br />(1) Review of City Ordinances <br />Chris has reviewed the ordinance and recommends that HFAB get involved. <br />Principal focus is on unkempt yards. HFAB discussed various issues regarding <br />residential landscapes. <br />(2) Guidelines for Planting on Out -lots and Open Space <br />Board members discussed the inability of the City to manage effectively out -lots <br />and open space. The use of these areas and encroachment by private <br />landowners is an issue that the City Council will address. HFAB members <br />discussed the merits of developing guidelines for these areas, which will be <br />addressed during the February Goal Setting session. <br />XV. Adjourn <br />Meeting was adjourned at 8:35 <br />Summary of Action Items Identified During Meeting: <br />• HFAB members - January .17th City Council Meeting, Forestry Ordinance <br />up for consideration by City Council. <br />• Chris Lichty - work on obtaining McCaslin /36 RTD landscape plan. <br />• HFAB members - review residential ordinance (weeds) as it pertains to <br />landscape guidelines. See Chapter 8.08 of Louisville Municipal Code <br />• HFAB members - anticipate presentation to City Council in March to <br />present HFAB goals, initiatives and projects. <br />• Chris Lichty - extend the HFAB invitation to Scott Robson to attend an <br />HFAB meeting for a general discussion about HFAB and the Department <br />of Land Management. <br />• Theresa Rounds - lead development of management guide for Community <br />Park trees and plants. <br />• • Chris Lichty and David Russell - lead initiative to develop the donation <br />program for the Arboretum. <br />
