Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.
B. Old Open Business
1. Arboretum Update — Chris Lichty
Chris handed out a replacement list for the trees — about 24 died last year. If his tree
budget is approved, they will be replaced next year. He asked us to review the list,
critique and give him feedback. His next project will be to remove the excess mulch
from around the trees and spread it away from the base of the trees. He did change the
irrigation schedule for the overhead irrigation to run longer for deeper percolation into
the soil profile. The water is now going, the weeds need to be controlled and shrub
choices needs to be discussed.
HFAB agrees that the proposed location for the Xeric garden is appropriate. Betty
proposed having the garden installed around the classroom seating areas to enhance the
areas. There is no logistical reason to not do that. Chris will talk to Chuck Reno and
Howard Teague of the Rotary Club about proposed changes.
David likes modifying the topography with the berming of the garden. Susan still wants
a more comprehensive plan from Chuck which integrates the classroom area with the
demonstration garden, paths, trees, bridge, etc. Chris will research this issue with Chuck.
The group would like to have an on -site meeting with Chuck.
