•
LOUISVILLE HORTICULTURE AND FORESTRY BOARD
Meeting Minutes
August 7, 2003
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Louisville Horticulture and Forestry Advisory Board, HFAB
was called to order at 7:05PM on August 7, 2003 in the Louisville Recreation Facility by
Susan Spaulding.
Present:
Susan Spaulding, Chair
Betty Solek
David Russell
Michael Frontczak
Judith Turner
Terry Cook
Chris Lichty, City Forester
Guests:
None
A. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.
B. Old Open Business
Summarize the discussion for each existing issue, state the outcome and assign any action
item.
1. Xeric Garden
Preliminary funding is established for dirt, pathway, berms, and boulders. Chris hopes to
have these items in place by the end of the year. Betty thought we were going to wait
until we knew how it was going to fit into the entire area. It is the east central part of the
arboretum. Chris is to provide a map with the garden area designated (Chuck Reno
decided on the area). There is existing irrigation available to access for supplemental
water for the garden. Two entrances to the arboretum will be available.
Susan agreed with Betty that we need an overall design concept plan which includes rec
center expansion, police department development as they affect the arboretum entrances.
HFAB wants to layout a long term plan for the arboretum development. Chris will
provide bird's eye view of the areas, with the proposed paths and bridge from the Rec
center parking lot drawn. HFAB members will walk the area after Chris mails drawings
to all in a week or so. David expressed frustration as this discussion seems repetitious
and he is comfortable with the plan. Chris wants to prep area this fall.
HFAB members will walk the proposed area individually before the next meeting on
Thursday, September 4, and discussed the plan at the September 4th meeting.
