August 1, 2002 <br />Louisville Horticulture & Forestry Advisory <br />Board <br />Call to order: Susan <br />Minutes approval — Judith / Betty - approved <br />Public Comment —. No public <br />Revised 9/5/02 <br />Old Business <br />Hillside Update <br />David Sexton & Jim Knopf walked the hillside. Many plants have died back to crown, but are.still alive. <br />Mallow plants have reseeded. Cindy Lair is confident she can get the weeds under control. Discussion of <br />benefits of the weeds — perhaps shading and cooling of the soil around the new plants. It is now _ <br />approaching the end of the 90 day period for determining warranty issues to be resolved with Rocky <br />Mountain Native Plants. <br />City Drought Update . <br />Discussion of the value of trees ensued. HFAB lamented the failure of the city edict to address the <br />watering needs and guidelines for woody plants. Apparently Louisville residents can use their drip systems <br />without restriction and are encouraged to manually water their woody plants on their watering days. <br />Apparently the city council does not want to change anything about the restrictions this year, and next year <br />want to institute the Colorado Springs Drought Action Plan for Louisville residents and businesses. <br />Boulder is establishing 1 day per month for August, September and October for tree watering as they are <br />recognizing that the woody plants are not receiving enough water. <br />The board has decided to write a letter to the City Council to state our concerns on the present restrictions <br />and seek clarification of the limitations and voice concerns. Final minutes of meeting was spent <br />brainstorming issues to submit to the City Council. <br />Colorado State University Design Project <br />Susan contacted Grant Reid. He is interested in using the Louisville Historical Museum complex will be <br />used as a senior project at CSU. They will spend 6 weeks minimally on it and will produce professional <br />landscape plans and do a presentation. <br />HFAB needs to meet with the Historical Society Board and city to establish goals and visions. David <br />Sexton will need to obtain grant from Louisville to cover photocopying costs and travel expenses for the <br />senior student. <br />Commercial & Industrial Guideline Discussion <br />This is going to be tabled for a work session. <br />Goals Update <br />Dave S. rewrote the goals <br />1.
