LOUISVILLE HORTICULTURE FORESTRY ADVISORY BOARD <br />MINUTES OF BORAD MEETING <br />April 5, 2000 <br />Members Present: Howard Teague, Jerry Warren, Betty Solek, Nanette Edwards, Susan <br />Spaulding, Susan Ariniello and David Russell <br />City Liaisons Present: Brad Chronowski and Dave Sexton <br />City Liaison Absent: Steve Baysinger <br />A. General <br />1. Howard called the meeting to order and March minutes were approved. Louisville new <br />City Forester, Dave Sexton was introduced to the board. <br />2. Dave gave some personal and professional background, discussed general goals and <br />presented a slide show to the group. Among his goals are arborist.certification, tree <br />inventory, tree ordinance, commercial design and public education. <br />3. Arbor Day events to occur are three tree plantings, one Ponderosa Pine from the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant, and two specialty conifer trees to be planted on Arbor Day <br />by city staff. Dave will set up a display table in the LRC and be available Saturday <br />afternoon to distribute brochures, hand out tree saplings and talk to citizens. <br />S 4. Brad discussed the improvement schedule regarding the entry walls /landscaping and the <br />parking lot. The entry walls should start in April and the start date for the parking lot is <br />undetermined. <br />5. Dave will be working on a review amendment and update of ordinances relating to city <br />trees. <br />6. The HFAB by -laws amended by Susan Spaulding were distributed to all board members <br />for review. This will be on next month's agenda. <br />7. Brad will begin to work on attaching the tree signs on all the posts that have been <br />installed. The May meeting will include discussions about the Arboretum Master Plan. <br />The May meeting will be held at the Arboretum. <br />8. The HFAB was updated on the progress of the Cherry St. Medians. A brief discussion <br />regarding prairie dogs was conducted. <br />9. The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 3, 2000. <br />
