LOUISVILLE HORTICULTURE FORESTRY ADVISORY BOARD <br />MINUTES OF BORAD MEETING <br />March 2000 <br />• Members Present: Howard Teague, Jerry Warren, Betty Solek and Nanette Edwards <br />City Liaisons Present: Steve Baysinger and Brad Chronowski <br />Members Absent: Susan Spaulding <br />A. General <br />1. Howard called the meeting to order and February minutes were approved. <br />2. Information on the hiring process for new position of City Forester was discussed. Nanette <br />Edwards and Susan Spaulding served on the assessment. panel. In total 26 applications were <br />received. Six candidates were invited to the assessment. The panel narrowed the selection to <br />two candidates. These candidates participated in a second interview and informal assessment. <br />Dave Sexton, the assistant forester with the City of Longmont has been offered and accepted the <br />position. He will begin working with the City of Louisville, March 20. <br />3. Brad updated the board on the arboretum parking lot. It appears at this time the lot will be <br />completed for the Arbor Day celebration April 22. <br />4. Arbor Day discussion was deferred: It will be an immediate project for Dave Sexton. <br />411) 5. Arboretum Entryway — The project is also on schedule for Arbor Day. Brad will be working <br />with Nanette, Susan and Betty on plant materials. <br />6. Steve informed the board the Tree Coalition has awarded the city a $1,500 grant in conjunction <br />with arboretum plantings. <br />7. Commercial Guidelines and City Codes — This will be a project Dave will undertake to be <br />addressed with the Board. <br />8. Brad is working on defining the area for beautification at South Boulder Road and Main Street. <br />This project will also require meeting with the Downtown Business Association and possibly the <br />Historical Commission. <br />9. Old Business — Need to address by -law changes that Susan had previously worked on. <br />10. Meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m. The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 5, 2000. <br />• <br />
