General
1. Howard Teague called the meeting to order, members read and approved the November
minutes.
2. Brad updated the Board on the Arboretum Parking Lot. Chuck Keim, Civil Engineer, is
still working on the parking lot design, particularly the trail crossing over the drainage
ditch. The project will likely go out to bid, January 2000 with a completion date of
March 1, 2000.
3. Steve notified the Board the gateway landscaping on the west side of McCaslin has been
put on hold. Efforts and finances will now be dedicated to landscape work planned for
the east side.
4. Howard indicated he had done some recruiting work for board positions coming up in
2000. Again Howard encouraged other Board members to recruit interested citizens of
Louisville for membership.
5. The members voted to rename the Board from Tree Board to Louisville Horticulture and
Forestry Board. This change will be reflected in the by -law changes.
6. Goals:
a. Complete the construction of an automobile entryway and parking area off of Via
Appia to permit access to the Arboretum.
b. Continue elimination of prairie dogs from the Arboretum.
c. Continue signage of all trees, shrubs and beds in the Arboretum area.
d. Old Business — Brad reported the signage and landscaping near Ruby Tuesday's
Restaurant does not belong to the City nor do we have maintenance responsibilities. This will be further discussed.
Meeting adjourned — Next meeting January 5, 2000.
