Louisville City Council Meeting
July 3,200 !
Page 2

De

Approval of Bills
Approval of Minutes (06/19/01)
Resolution No. 29, Series 2001 - A Resolution Approving an
Intergovernmental Agreement with the Boulder County Clerk and
Recorder for the Conduct and Administration o fa Coordinated Election
to be held November 6, 2001, and Invoking the Requirements and
Procedures of the Uniform Election Code with Respect to Such Election
Approval of Proposed 2002 Budget - Boulder Regional Emergency
Telephone Service Authority

Councilman Howard arrived at 7:02 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA

Annelise Cummings, 795 W. Pinyon Way, Louisville, CO, spoke to the recent
relocation of the prairie dogs located on the north side of Via Appia. She expressed
concern that the relocation is not a reasonable effort unless there is an attempt to trap
every male prairie dog. She estimated that there were not any traps placed on three-
quarters of the west end of Via Appia, She stated that she and her husband counted at
least 170 animals above ground in the untrapped areas. She stated that Parks &
Recreation Director Steve Baysinger told her that only 93 prairie dogs were trapped on
that land. She voiced her belief that at least twice as many animals remain on the land.
She stated that three birthing seasons have come and gone since the last relocation two
years ago. She stated that she and husband volunteered with that relocation and most of
the dogs on that site were relocated. She stated that most of the prairie dogs that remain
have never been trapped and are easier to catch; therefore, it is possible to trap a large
majority of the dogs on the site. She stated her understanding that the permit was for 400
prairie dogs and expressed doubt that 400 prairie dogs were relocated. She suggested that
the contractor be asked to do a thorough job of relocation. She voiced her belief that the
City should find another site and obtain another permit to relocate the balance of the
prairie dogs. She noted that there is no deadline for the prairie dogs colony on Via
Appia, and asked that the City do a complete relocation on the site.

COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON
THE AGENDA

Sisk stated that he looks forward to the Fourth of July celebration in Louisville. He
encouraged all the citizens to attend the events. He noted that there is the picnic at
Memory Square Park and the fireworks display at the golf course. He recognized Elle
Cabbage for her work in providing successful events. He stated that there will be a Jazz
Fest this week and the American Legion and Elks clubs will provide facilities for the
event. Sisk thanked all the volunteers for their hard work.

2
