Louisville City Council Meeting <br />September 18, 2001 <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION OF A DONATION TO NEW YORK CITY <br /> <br />Davidson stated that members of Council are aware of the tragedy, which occurred in <br />New York City, and that many of the relief efforts are going toward aid to the victims. <br /> <br />MOTION: Davidson moved that Council approve a city-to-city donation of $5,000.00 <br />to New York City to assist in their costs to recover from the terrorist attack, seconded by <br />Mayer. <br /> <br />Brown commended Mayor Davidson for his suggestion and stated that there are other <br />areas that were affected by the terrorist actions, Washington, D.C., and a rural town in <br />Pennsylvania. He stated that the Council should acknowledge the impact to New York <br />City and to other communities as well. <br /> <br />Mayer thanked Mayor Davidson for his excellent suggestion. He stated that although a <br />City was attacked, the Country as a whole was attacked. <br /> <br />VOTE: Roll call vote was taken. The motion passed by a vote of 5-0. Keany excused, <br />Howard absent. <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT <br /> <br />City Attorney Light reported that Council approved the Maurer Annexation contingent <br />that the signed Annexation Agreement be submitted by September 29, 2001. He noted <br />that the property was recently sold, however only one signature appears on the <br />Annexation Agreement. He stated that if the second signature is not obtained by the next <br />City Council meeting, he would ask for Council's formal reconsideration. <br /> <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT <br /> <br />City Administrator Bill Simmons reported that the Facilities Committee consisting of the <br />City Staff and Councilmen Sisk and Keany will meet on Friday, September 29, 2001, to <br />begin the process of interviewing firms that will do site design services for the city- <br />owned 15 acre parcel along McCaslin Boulevard. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that the City has received 17 applications to fill the vacancy of the <br />Municipal Judge. He asked if Council desired to have the Legal Committee screen the <br />applications and recommend the finalist. <br /> <br />Davidson suggested that the Legal Committee interview the applicants and choose a <br />finalist that the full Council could interview. <br /> <br /> <br />
