CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM ___ <br />SUBJECT: SALES TAX REPORTS FOR THE MONTH ENDED OCTOBER <br />31, 2012 <br />DATE:DECEMBER 17, 2012 <br />PRESENTED BY: PENNEY BOLTE, FINANCE DEPARTMENT <br />SUMMARY: <br />Attached are the monthly revenue reports for sales tax, lodging tax, auto use tax, <br />consumer use tax and building use tax for the month ending October 31, 2012. Also <br />included are monthly reports on sales tax revenue by area and by industry. <br />The total for all revenues ending October 2012 is up 13.2% YTD over 2011. <br />The month of October 2012 ended with sales tax revenue up 2.3% over that of October <br />2011. YTD sales tax revenue through October 2012 is 7% above the same period for <br />2011 and is currently 1.7% above budget. <br />Sales tax revenue for the top 50 vendors increased 1.2% for the month of October <br />2012, and is 3% above 2011 YTD. Gains YTD include Hotels (12.4%), Home <br />Improvement (8.5%), Grocery (7.3%) and Restaurants (5.3%). The declining sectors <br />YTD include Technology (-36.2%), General Merchandise (-4.7%) and Telecom/Utilities <br />(-3.7%). <br />Lodging tax revenue for October 2012 increased 2% over October 2011 with YTD <br />revenues 11.7% above 2011 and 3.8% above budget. <br />Auto use tax revenue for October 2012 increased 29.4% from October 2011 with YTD <br />revenues 7% above 2011 and 2.8% above budget. <br />Building use tax revenue for October 2012 decreased 9.6% from October 2011 with <br />YTD revenues 28% above 2011 and 33.2% above budget. <br />Consumer use tax revenue for October 2012 decreased 3.2% from October 2011 with <br />YTD revenues 186% above budget. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />11 <br />
