Horticulture & Forestry Advisory Board Minutes Thursday, November 1, 2012 Spruce Room—City Hall 749 Main Street 7:00 PM I.Call to Order—Chair Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. II.Roll call—Board members present: Shelly Alm, Mike Frontczak, Meredith Preston- Eddy, Theresa Rounds, Ellen Toon, Beverlee White. Board members absent: Kimberly Heestand, Matt Tepe. Staff members present: Dean Johnson, Joe Stevens. City Council member present: Susan Loo. Guests: Barb Newland and Mark Newland. III.The agenda was approved by all members. IV.The minutes from the October 4, 2012 meeting were approved. V.Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda—No public present. Mike commented that he has heard mention of the formation of a new parks advisory board. Susan said City Council is reviewing the responsibilities of existing City advisory boards. HFAB members present agreed that since in the past, HFAB has been called upon to offer comments and suggestions regarding parks issues, HFAB could continue to serve in that role. Regarding the City’s acquisition of land for potential new parks, Theresa commented that the City budget should give higher priority to the maintenance and improvement of current parks and the Arboretum. VI.Arboretum Projects Update—Dean stated that Allan Gill has ordered ten pieces of equipment for the new exercise trail, and the concrete pads for the equipment will be installed by the end of December. The new stamped concrete floor for the pergola will also be installed before the end of this year. Irrigation lines and sod for the area surrounding the pergola will be installed next spring.
