Current Photo
A subcommittee was formedand conducted a site visit on November 30, 2012. The
subcommitteerecommended that this requestbe heard by the Commission.
ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY:
The existing structure is a one story tudorstyle single-family housebuilt in 1931.The
house ispredominatelyside-gabledwith two smaller front gables and an attached
garage set back from the front of the house. The overall form is intact, but while the
structure appears to have been stucco at least as far back as 1948, the stucco and
roofing appear to have been changed since then. The windows do not appear to be
original, but the openings have been maintained along with the distinctive rounded front
door.The original chimney is intact.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION:
The househas retained its form and massing, and many of its details. The window
openings have been retained, though the windows themselves may not be original. The
house has a distinctive form, though not one common to Louisville. The social history is
strong, including a semi-professional baseball player and a nationally famous band
leader and composer.
Staff believesthe house would be eligible for individual landmarking, and therefore
recommends a 180 day stay be placed on the application.
5
