Current Photos
A subcommittee was formedand conducted a site visit on December 7, 2012. The
subcommitteerecommended that this requestbe heard by the Commission.
ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY:
The existing structure is a one story national folk style single-family housebuilt in the
1890s.The house is cross-gabled, and appears to have been expanded to the east
after 1956. The siding and roofing are not original, though the overall form is intact.
The large windows on the west side of the front façade were lost sometime between
1948 and 1956. Other window openings appear to have changed size, and a front
porch has been added.
There is no historical information on the accessory structure.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION:
The househas retained its form and massing, but many details have been lost. The
siding and windows are not original, not all window openings have been retainedand a
front porch has been added. The house does not represent a form particularly
associated with Louisville. The social history is strong, however, including a former
mayor and mine foreman.
Staff does not believe that the house would be eligible for individual landmarkingeven
4
