Schuman) <br /> <br />Jeanne distributed a summary of her notes on <br />the changes that have taken place in the past five years as a barometer of the speed of <br />technological and social change that libraries must accommodate. These changes will <br />include library apps, a mobile device plan, and cloud storage for eBooksA major focus <br />of library use will be as working labs for online learners a <br />office but need space to meet and work. Mr. Frey predicts that even without physical <br />books, libraries will continue to serve as vital community centers. <br /> <br />C.Daily Camera article on issue of library districts <br /> <br />Beth noted that a district was something that would have been an attractive option 5-6 <br />years ago. Today, with the economic and housing downturns, prope <br />reliable a source of revenue as it has been in the past. The Library has enjoyed good <br />support from City <br /> <br />VIII.Ongoing Business <br /> <br />A.Policy Review <br /> <br />1)Exhibits & Displays <br /> <br />The Board reviewed the proposed changes and requested some addit <br />modifications. The Board unanimously approved the revised wordin- <br />adopted the policy with those changes. <br /> <br />B.Street Faire Impact <br /> <br />Beth noted that she, Alicia, <br />economic development director, and City Manager Malcolm Fleming on April 30, 2012. <br />Discussion continues to focus on the impact to Library operations of the Street Faire, <br /> <br />the Library. Subsequently, members of the City staff met with th <br />Association (DBA). The outcome of that meeting is not yet known. <br /> <br />C.Strategic Planning <br /> <br />1)What Library users told us at the National Library Week receptio <br /> <br />Board members encouraged patrons to put up post-it notes regarding what they <br />would like to see the Library include in the future. There were <br />most of which were for more of what the Library is already doing <br />or discussions on new media, more eBook titles, renting eReaders, and <br />maintaini <br />by teen and adult. <br />2)Mission Statement revision <br /> <br />good but perhaps too long. The Board reviewed the sample mission statements <br />from other libraries that Beth had compiled. After a discussion, members <br />crafted a new, proposed mission statement, as follows: <br /> <br />
