Creation of a separate foundation (pursuant to decision at April meeting) <br />1. Status report. Dan, Lynn, Gladys, and Jennifer are on the subcommittee. They <br /> to <br />are in the process of investigating other city owned museums with foundations <br />uncover best practices and structure. The data collection is nearly complete. <br />Gladys has volunteered to compile the findings for the next meeting. <br />2. Date of next subcommittee meeting is Oct. 30. <br />C. Membership, Fundraising, & Events <br />1. Membership statistics & fundraising report – Sally Burlingame <br />see attached. <br />brought in a new Business Sponsor: Coal Creek Collision Center. The <br />Commission welcomes the new Sponsor and will add their logo to the website <br />and their name to the Louisville Historian. <br />a. Membership drive & goals for 2012. Bridget reported that a lifetime <br />member mentioned that she would make a monetary donation to the <br />Historical Commission every year if she were solicited and reminded. <br />Dan said it could be a good idea to reach out to lifetime Museum <br />members. Bridget said that she thought that there were about 80-90 of <br />these members. No action was taken. Commission members indicated <br />that they would like to approach the lifetime members to request <br />donations when a capital campaign for a new building is underway. <br />2. Discussion - paper craft model of the Jacoe Store & possible use in <br />fundraising/awareness. Bridget presented the second paper craft model <br />designed by Richard Wheeler: the Jacoe Store. This follows Wheeler’s paper <br />model design of the Grain Elevator. The Commission suggested that they be <br />considered for outreach and community engagement including school visits. <br />D. Discussion/Direction/Action – Expenses. <br />1. Bridget reported that a member of the public would like to order 120 of the color <br />historic postcards, which cost $1 each, and asked for a discount. Anne Robinson <br />offered to work with Bridget to ascertain a reasonable discount and the <br />Commission authorized them to arrive at a price. <br />2. Bridget requested funding to pay for the printing of more Grain Elevator kits. The <br />Commission authorized up to $400 for this purpose. <br />E. Chairperson’s Report. There were no additional comments. <br />F. Commission comments & discussion items for next meeting. None added. <br />G. Close Fundraising Board Meeting & adjourn.
