Louisville City Council Meeting
November 6, 2001
Page 12

Brown asked Moore if there has been any study done on where the Safeway fueling
station customers would come from. He expressed concern that there isn't a demand for
an additional fueling station in this area, and cited the two abandoned stations in
Lafayette as an example. Moore explained that the abandoned stations in Lafayette were
closed because there was not enough property to modernize and enlarge their facility.

Davidson stated that it is difficult for existing facilities to meet current CDDSG
guidelines and stated that this proposal doesn't appear to meet those standards. He stated
that Safeway would have received less opposition from residents if they had worked
harder to fit into the area. He stated that he could not support the proposal.

Levihn suggested that Safeway would have been more successful working with the
residents in the area.

MOTION: Sisk moved that Council approve Resolution No. 52, Series 2001, which
denies the SRU request, seconded by Brown. Roll call vote was taken. The motion
passed by a vote of 5-0.
