Architectural Significance – Style particularly associated with the Louisville
area.
The house startedas asmallminer’s homebut was expanded over time,
like many houses in Louisville, and has retained architectural integrity.
RECOMMENDATION:
The structure appears to have maintainedarchitectural integrity since its construction
around 1942.The overall formhas been maintainedand the original siding still exists.
The house also represents a typical miner’s home that has grown over time. Staff has
determined that there is no social significance because the original owner was not
significant and the currentowner did not own the property during its period of
significance.
Staff suggests the house be named for Joe Restaswho built the structure and lived in it
for almost 30 years.
Staff recommends the application to landmark the RestasHousebe approved for the
following reasons:
1.The house has retained its overall form since at least 1948; and
2.The house represents a typical miner’s home in Louisville.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION AND INFORMATION:
Attached foryour review are the following documents:
Landmark Application
Social History
Resolution
6
