Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 14, 2013 <br />Page 2 of 9 <br />Koglin requested a word of mouth to their friends and family. <br />Koertje asked what the specific need of an additional building is needed. <br />Koglin stated for additional space and storage. <br />Stewart introduced the new commission member Lynda Haley. <br />Pre-filing Conference – None <br />Public Hearing – Demolition Request – 1041 Grant <br />Stewart announced his potential conflict of interest and recused himself. Koertje took <br />over as chair. <br />Robinson presented the information provided in staff’s report. He stated this is a <br />request to put an addition on the structure, so it is a partial demolition, but will include a <br />second floor addition. <br />Koertje asked if the applicant and owner were different. <br />Robinson answered in the affirmative. <br />Koertje asked if the applicant could present. <br />Bill Long presented. He stated they have outgrown the house and need more space. <br />He said they want to keep the character of the house in their redesign. <br />Koertje asked for more details on the project and how much of the original house will be <br />retained. <br />Long stated the entire first floor will be retained, with the exception of a larger kitchen. <br />The windows will be retained. The only addition will be to the second floor. <br />Public Comments – none heard <br />Commission Discussion/Comments <br />Watson stated he was impressed with the project, with the exception of the modification <br />to the entry. He stated, however,he is interested to learn moreabout the details of the <br />house, especially the entry door. <br />Fasick asked if there had been discussion about the eligibility of the structure. <br />Koertje stated there are criteria a demolition must be reviewed by to determine if it could <br />be eligible for landmarking. He stated the details of the criteria. He stated the social <br />history and architectural history were very strong. He stated the structure would qualify <br />as an individual landmark.He stated a stay should be placed on the structure for <br />design assistance. <br />
