Bridget noted that the Museum provided photos and excerpts from the Louisville Historian for the Chamber of Commerce Directory coming out later in the week. She also shared a recent article about subsidence in Erie due to coal mining. There is interest in creating a memorial park for Victor Helburg, the Town Marshal who was killed in 1915. A group including three Helburg granddaughters has met three times to discuss. The hope is that a small park can be located near the police station and th dedicated October 15, 2015 (100 anniversary). Jennifer Strand and Brian Chamberlin, former LHC members, are working on this project. City leaders have expressed their support. The group is looking into fundraising. The Downtown Business Association generously offered the LHC one free night during the 2013 Street Faire for a booth to promote/advertise the Museum. It would require 2-3 people to be at the booth from 4-10 PM. The LHC could have a booth on additional evenings for a fee. Several LHC members stated that they are willing to staff the booth, and ideas were shared about what could be offered at the booth to promote the Museum. E.Report from the Director of Library and Museum Services: Beth Barrett reported on final 2012 statistics for the Library: 566,600 items circulated (up 4%). Beth and Bridget will met with the IT department re: incorporating cataloguing records from the Museum into the Library database. Beth and Bridget participated in a 2-day Webinar training re: how to start a photo digitization project. F.Report from City Council liaison: City council study sessions re: the 2014 budget are underway. The LHC and all other boards are being asked to contribute a goal statement with needs for funding, as well as ideas about how the funding could happen. The City Council will take up the 2014 budget at the March 2013 meeting. This item is to be on the LHC agenda of the February 2013 meeting.Also, the City Council is rethinking liaison work and assignments for boards and commissions. Currently, each board or commission has a liaison, but councilors’ time is stretched very thin, so there has been a suggestion that liaisons not come to every meeting. G.Chairperson’s Report: Dan reported that he will meet with Susan Loo on January 18, 2013 for an informal exchange of ideas. He also gave a report on the subcommittee working on developing a Museum foundation for the purposes of fundraising (see details below). New LHC members are welcome to attend and participate. At its most recent meeting, the group discussed what standing committees to recommend. Currently, Dan Mellish works on memberships and Business Sponsorships. H.Election of Officers for 2013: Dan Mellish – Chair; Anne Robinson – Vice Chair; Gladys Levis-Pilz – Secretary; Dave Ferguson – Treasurer. The slate of officers was approved.
