p F 0
'10 (111*1.4t1""
Parks &
Recreation MEMORANDUM
TO: Kathy Martin, Superintendent
FROM: Julie Seydel
DATE: May 31, 2012
SUBJECT: Arts Center Usage
I will take this opportunity to provide background on the usage allocation at the
Louisville Center for the Arts. Since I have been coordinating the usage of the
center, the main groups using it have been the Louisville Cultural Council,
Louisville Art Association, Center Stage Theatre, Coal Creek Community Theatre
and Harmony (city contractor). These groups have a cosponsor agreement with
the City of Louisville that provided space free of charge until 2011. A fee of
$1,200 was implemented in 2011 with that increasing to $1,500 for 2012. This
fee is not a rental fee, but rather a facility maintenance fee. Groups are also
provided free storage space in the basement.
Each Fall all groups are given the opportunity to request dates for the upcoming
calendar year. The process is that once requests are received all are put onto a
working calendar to determine dates which have multiple requests. Priority has
been given to LCC events, as long as they did not interfere with other
cosponsored groups block events that are held each year. LAA has several
shows which are hosted at the center during holiday and those have traditionally
been given priority. CCCT also has 4 shows each year that require blocks
reserved time.
Program offerings that are open to the public are given consideration over
rehearsal or meeting time requests.
Each group has continued to evolve and provide additional programs over the
years, which has resulted in additional conflicts of single day requests throughout
the year. Below is the total reserved hours for each group in 2012 and the fees
that would be attached if charged per hour.
