City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />December 18, 2012 <br />Page 12of 17 <br />Mr. DelPizzo inquired about the length of the project.Planning DirectorRuss stated the <br />project will take from 6-12 months. <br />Mr. DelPizzo requested the curbs be painted yellow. <br />Sherry Murgallis, 945 Front Street, Louisville, CO explained she owns thebuilding right <br />next to this projectand her biggest concern isFront Street remainsopen. She inquired <br />about the drop in the street. Planning Director Russ stated the drop was to flatten the <br />crown. Ms. Murgallis endorsed the concept and also expressed a desire to not lose <br />parking areas. <br />The City Council directedstaffto endorse the 30% design concept for the South Street <br />Gateway and continue discussion to the January 22, 2013 City Council meeting. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION/ACTION – UC DENVER ENERGY ASSESSMENT <br />BUDGET FOR 2013 <br />Mayor Muckle requested this item be brought back for Council consideration. Staff <br />recommended including $12,250 in the 2013 budget to provide funding for an Energy <br />Assessment/Community Outreach conducted by the University of Colorado Denver. <br />During Board and Commission interviews, applicants for the Sustainability Advisory <br />Board all recommended conducting the assessment. Mayor Muckle reported on <br />attending a meeting in Boulder where the Boulder County Commissioners discussed <br />putting a tax issue on the ballot next year, which would create a sustainability fund. <br />County residents could apply for funds to implement energy efficient measures to the <br />homes and businesses. <br />City Manager Fleming confirmed UC Denver is stilling willing to conduct the study and <br />could commence the work in the first quarter of 2013. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Council member Keany asked if there was a deadline to commit to the study. Public <br />Works Director Kowar stated the deadline is the first quarter of 2013. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Martin Odle, 322 E. Raintree Court, Louisville, CO had previously lived in Arlington, VA <br />where he served on a Community Energy Advisory Group. Theycreateda community <br />energy planto enhance Arlington economic competitiveness, ensure the reliable and <br />affordable energy supplies and to demonstrate the County’s long-term commitment to <br />environmental responsibility.
