^
CITY OF LOUISVILLE PLANNING DEPARTMENT
.MEMORANDUM
To: Mayor and Members of City Council
Chairman and 'Members of the Planning Commission
Technical Advisory Committee Members
EDAW and Sub Consultants
From: Paul S. Wood, Planning Director
Subject: Special Meeting -January 25, 2005 -Review Draft Comprehensive
Plan
Date: January 20, 2005
It truly is with great anticipation and enthusiasm that our consulting team and
staff present to you a draft study copy of the City Wide Comprehensive Plan
document. The Plan represents the work and input of many stakeholders,
residents and business owners and operators in the City of Louisville. As
expressed in previous meetings and workshops, the primary operational principle
in the design of this 10 month process was to maximize community input.
Chapter One focuses on the development of the comprehensive planning
process and the emphasis of public outreach as a common denominator to all
three phases.
The purpose of Chapter Two is to define `existing conditions' in the City of
Louisville. Demographic composition and natural resource assets are defined for
the City. EDAW and the sub-consultant team contributed important analysis to
this section specifically in the areas of existing land use, transportation, housing
and public facilities. Those existing conditions and findings are organizationally
provided by the pertinent Plan element. The eight Plan elements are as follows:
Land Use
Transportation
Economic Development
Housing
Parks, Recreation, and Open Space
Community Character and Urban Design
Public Facilities and Utilities
Cultural Resources
