<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1468 <br />SERIES 2005 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 13, "WATER AND SEWERS" OF THE <br />LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE; ADDING A NEW SECTION 13.08.180, "CROSS <br />CONNECTION CONTROL;" AND SETTING FORTH DETAILS IN RELATION <br />THERETO. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville desires to amend Title 13, "Water and Sewers", Chapter <br />13.08, "Water Service Regulations," of the Louisville Municipal Code to add a new Section <br />13.08.180, "Cross Connection Control," setting forth the City's water cross connection control <br />program and regulations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City to <br />amend the Louisville Municipal Code as set forth herein; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article 12 of the Colorado Primary Drinking Water Regulations places full <br />responsibility on the water supplier to protect the public water system from contamination by <br />identifying potentially uncontrolled hazardous service cross connections, and requires installation and <br />maintenance of containment devices on any uncontrolled hazardous cross connection. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Title 13, "Water and Sewers", Chapter 13.08, "Water Service <br />Regulations," ofthe Louisville Municipal Code shall be and hereby is amended to add a new Section <br />13.08.180, "Cross Connection Control," to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 13.08.180 <br /> <br />Cross-connection control. <br /> <br />A. Purpose. The purpose of this section is: <br /> <br />1, To protect the public potable water supply of the City from the possibility of <br />contamination or pollution by isolating within its customers' internal distribution system such <br />contaminants or pollutants which could backflow or back-siphon into the public water system, <br /> <br />2, To promote the elimination or control of existing cross-connections, actual or potential, <br />between its customers' on-site potable water systems and non-potable systems, <br /> <br />3, To provide for the maintenance of a continuing program of cross-connection control that <br />will effectively prevent the contamination or pollution of potable water systems by cross- <br />connection. <br /> <br />4. To provide that backflow prevention devices within structures, building and appurtenant <br />plumbing shall be regulated by the City's Plumbing Code, as adopted and in effect from time <br />to time, and in accordance with this section. <br /> <br />1 <br />
