City Council Water Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Thursday, January 31, 2012 <br />Page 2of 2 <br />VIII.City Updates –Water Projects <br />i. Drought Management Plan–The Plan will be updated to present several <br />discretionary drought response tools and will be presented for Council’s <br />approval. Staff will continue working with surrounding municipalities to provide <br />a consistent droughtresponse message to residents. <br />ii.Facility Plans–Build-out water treatment facility needs have been identified in <br />the Water System Facilities Plan. Staff is identifying timelines for the facility <br />projects that appear in the Plan. The wastewater treatment plant evaluation <br />indicated that improvements to that facility will need to be constructed in the <br />near future to comply with State regulations and replace aging infrastructure. <br />iii.Tap Fee Equivalents –Staff believes the existing multi-family tap fee <br />equivalents should remain. <br />iv.Long Term Utility Rate Setting –A utility rate study will commence this year. <br />There will be a stakeholder involvement process as part of the study. Possible <br />outcomes could include adjusting costs for water rate tiers and City <br />departments paying for potable and irrigation water use. <br />v.Windy Gap Firming Project –Not discussed. <br />vi.Other –None. <br />IX.Agenda Items and Date for Next Meeting. <br />The next meeting will be scheduled for March of 2013to discuss drought response <br />and the utility rate study. <br />X.Adjourn: <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:30am. <br />
