<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1463 <br />SERIES 2005 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 15 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE, <br />ENTITLED "BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION," BY THE ADDITION OF CHAPTER <br />15.36 ENTITLED "HISTORIC PRESERVATION." <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2.66 of the Louisville Municipal Code establishes a Historic <br />Preservation Commission, whose powers, duties and responsibilities are as set forth by Resolution <br />No. 34 Series 2002; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission has forwarded to the City <br />Council this historic preservation ordinance to provide for the designation and protection of historic <br />properties within the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville Planning Commission has duly considered this historic <br />preservation ordinance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the recommendations of the Historic <br />Preservation Commission and the Planning Commission concerning the adoption of an historic <br />preservation ordinance, and has held a duly noticed public hearing on this ordinance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the adoption ofthis historic preservation ordinance <br />will promote the protection and preservation of the City's historic and cultural heritage; will <br />promote the enhancement of property values and the stabilization of historic neighborhoods; will <br />increase the economic and financial benefits realized through the City's attraction to tourists and <br />visitors, and will promote the provision of education opportunities to increase public appreciation <br />of Louisville's unique heritage; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in adopting this ordinance, it is the intent of the City Council to create a <br />method to draw a reasonable balance between private property rights and the public interest in <br />preserving Louisville's unique historic character by ensuring that demolition of, moving, or <br />alterations to properties of historic value shall be carefully considered for impact to the property's <br />contribution to Louisville's heritage. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended by the addition of a <br />new Chapter 15,36 to read as follows: <br /> <br />1 <br />
