Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes:Wednesday, February20, 2013 <br />City Hall,749 Main Street, Spruce Room <br />I.Call to Order:Themeeting was called to order at 6:37pm by Chair Mary Ann Heaney.Minutes <br />to be taken by Mark Persichetti. <br />II.Roll Call:Members present(in bold):Jim Bradford,Cullen Choi,Mary Ann Heaney,Andy <br />Johnson,Claudia Lenz,Mark Persichetti,Ted Sontrop; Staff Liaison Dave Szabados; City- <br />Council Liaison Emily Jasiack. <br />III.Approval of Current-Meeting’sAgenda:The agenda was approved as-is. <br />th <br />IV. Approval of January Meeting Minutes:The minutes from the January 16meeting were <br />approved as-is. <br />V. Public Commentson Items Not on the Agenda:none. <br />VI. Board Guidelines:For our new members, we discussed our meeting procedures: rotation of all <br />members to act as Chair & Secretary; start-stop times for meetings; no more than one guest speaker <br />at a meeting; restrictions on outside multi-member meetings per our open-government requirements, <br />etc. <br />VII. Review of February12, 2013City Council Meeting:Mary Ann will oversee our proposed <br />Community-Gardens project; she’ll also oversee urban-gardens and urban poultry proposals. <br />Andy will act as liaison with our Building-Code Board, during their review of the 2012ICC energy- <br />conservation and green building codes. <br />Mark will work with community business groups to increase waste diversion by local businesses. <br />It was noted Council members seem to prefer educational efforts and tools, to possible mandatory <br />requirements. <br />VIII. 2013-14 Policy Goals/Projects for Council Consideration:Jim plans to attend the next <br />meeting of the Populus group; a means to get local energy-conservation movement going; low initial <br />investments to generate greater activity; possible tie-ins with results from our Energy-Efficiency <br />Study. <br />Andy discussed possibilities of adopting new ICC building codes; he’ll attend BCBoA meetings; likely <br />push-back from area builders; using training programs (eg Xcel). He also proposed promoting Solar- <br />Friendly Communities; use a program w industry sponsors (eg COSIA); get recognition for local <br />projects. <br />Mark will meet with CoC and DBA; promote zero-waste at their events this year; try to develop a list <br />of local-businesses’ recycling levels, consider some kind of public-recognition–a ‘sticker’ program? <br />He’ll also follow-up on acquiring community recycling bins (such as offered by Waste Mgmt), and try <br />to get recycling bins installed along Main St and in public areas. <br />City of Louisville <br />Public Works Department749 Main Street <br />Louisville CO 80027 <br />303.335.4608(phone) 303.335.4550(fax) www.louisvilleco.gov <br />
