CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM ___ <br />SUBJECT: SALES TAX REPORTS FOR THE MONTH ENDED FEBRUARY <br />28, 2013 <br />DATE:APRIL 15, 2013 <br />PRESENTED BY: PENNEY BOLTE, FINANCE DEPARTMENT <br />SUMMARY: <br />Attached are the monthly revenue reports for sales tax, lodging tax, auto use tax, <br />consumer use tax and building use tax for the month ending February 28, 2013. Also <br />included are monthly reports on sales tax revenue by area and by industry. <br />The total for all revenues ending February 2013 is up 20.7% YTD over 2012. <br />The month of February 2013 ended with sales tax revenue up 2.9% over that of <br />February 2012. YTD sales tax revenue is currently 1.5% above budget. <br />Sales tax revenue for the top 50 vendors increased .1% for the month of February 2013 <br />with YTD gains currently at 8%. Gains YTD include Grocery (20.9%), Home <br />Improvement (6.1%), Restaurants (6.5%) and Telecom/Utilities (1.9%). The declining <br />sectors for February were Hotels (-3.3%) and General Merchandise (-.6%). <br />Lodging tax revenue for February 2013 decreased 6.7% from February 2012 and is <br />currently 12.8% below budget. <br />Auto use tax revenue for February 2013 decreased 1.9% from February 2012 and is <br />currently 12.3% above budget. <br />Building use tax revenue for February 2013 increased 70.7% from February 2012 and is <br />currently 240.3% above budget. <br />Consumer use tax revenue for February 2013 increased 41.8% from February 2012 and <br />is currently 122.6% above budget. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />7 <br />
