Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 1, 2013 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> Boulder County Partnership will be discussing this issue at their May meeting. <br /> What will be their Code of Ethics? <br /> How much attention will Louisville get? <br /> Will we have a seat at the table? <br /> <br />RETENTION MEETINGS <br /> <br /> Human Movement <br /> Aaron visited with Jeff of Human Movement located on South Street. They are a <br />national event coordinator with 20 employees. They also coordinate local races. They <br />may need additional space soon. <br /> <br /> Courtyard Marriott <br /> Matt Hoffman is the general manager. They have remodeled all rooms. There is now a <br />Starbucks located in the lobby. He suggested that small meetings could be held in the <br />lobby and there are also small meeting rooms that seat 10 people. Business is not going <br />well, and would like to engage Louisville businesses. <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING <br /> <br /> Grain Elevator- Aaron reported that the City has applied for a History Colorado State Historical <br />Fund 2013 Competitive Grant Application for the Grain Elevator Rehabilitation. The application <br />is for a $200,000 grant to be used with $378,690 of City funding. The City will be competing <br />with about 35 other applicants. We will be notified in August whether we will be receiving a <br />grant. City Council will provide direction to staff on April 2nd regarding the Grain Elevator RFP <br />to secure a development partner for the property. The Historic Preservation commission did not <br />recommend the developer approach for the stabilization phase of the project. <br /> Highway 42: The DELO Revenue Bond issue term sheet to outline the terms for infrastructure <br />improvements to facilitate redevelopment of the DELO property and property adjacent to <br />Highway 42, will be reviewed by the LRC on April 8th. Their pre-approval will then allow the <br />issue to be considered by City Council on April 16th. If Council approves the Bond Issue, then <br />the item will go back to LRC for final adoption, in accordance with the IGA between the City <br />and LRC. <br /> Phillips 66- This property in on the market. Staff will continue to monitor the activity of this <br />property. Aaron and Malcolm have met with 2 developers interested in the area. <br /> Benjamin West: A Business Assistance Package has been approved by City Council for <br />Benjamin West, a supplier to the hotel industry. AvaDan, LLC, an entity related to Benjamin <br />West will build a 40,000 square foot building to be located at 428 Colorado Technology Center <br />Boulevard. Benjamin West is a sister company of an existing Louisville business Audit <br />Logistics. <br /> Twelve Degree Brewing LLC – City Council approved a Business Assistance Package for <br />improvements to Suite 1 of 820 Main Street. Improvements include removing the front staircase <br />to activate the front of the building.
