Louisville Special City Council Meeting <br />February 12, 2002 <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported that the City has received the bond documents and <br />the 12 million dollars reserved through the Northwest Parkway proceeds for the Highway <br />42/96th Street Connection. Simmons stated that the City benefits by being able to invest <br />the 12 million dollars. He stated that a meeting is planned next week to review the <br />design of the Highway 42/97th Street Connection. <br /> <br />Davidson reported that the route of the Northwest Parkway is being investigated due to <br />the unknown location of the Highway Mine. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that on February 14, 2001, the County is conducting a public hearing <br />on the transportation tax. He stated that 1.16 million dollars has been allocated for the <br />widening of Dillon Road. He explained that the tax has a ten-year life. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that Staff has made call on the status of the on the Louisville Kmart. <br />He stated that neither the property manager, nor the store managers knew the store's fate <br />and that a Web site lists the Louisville Kmart as closed. <br /> <br />Sisk stated that Channel 2 News reported the Louisville Kmart as closed. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that the interviews for the architect for the Recreation Center and <br />Library needs assessment are completed and staff is recommending the firm of <br />Humphries Poli be retained. He explained that a 3-tiered approach would be taken; 1) <br />correct efficiencies, 2) to fulfill wants and 3) to look at needs. He stated that the firm of <br />Humphries Poli has worked on four libraries, among them the Douglas County Library <br />District and the Mamie Doud Library in Broomfield. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that staff would probably recommend an executive session to discuss <br />the Koebel lawsuit. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that staff has been working with property owner at the enclave at 100 <br />West Spruce Street. He stated that the negotiations are for sewer service and annexation <br />of the property. <br /> <br />Mayer noted that the property contains a conservation easement. <br /> <br />Simmons stated that staff received a call on an economic development opportunity in the <br />Highway 42 revitalization area for a potential national grocery store chain at that site. He <br />thanked the planning staff, and the consultant for compiling the information so quickly. <br /> <br /> <br />
