Discussion of watering
restrictions and water conservation efforts by the Parks Department.
VI. 2013 Arbor Day review--Tree planting event at Louisville Elementary has been
postponed until Friday, May 3.
VII. City Council Study Session review--Mike's presentation of HFAB accomplishments and
goals was well received. Council members requested feedback on idea of adding a
Parks advisory board, or incorporating it into HFAB. Comments made at HFAB meeting
indicated a willingness by members to take on the additional responsibility; however it
would require a broader scope of member knowledge and experience. The comment
was also made that much of the work of advocacy and advising for new parks is and
should continue to be done by the experienced professionals on City staff.
VIII. Arboretum Pergola dedication plans--Tentative date in mid-July; possibly a Friday
lunchtime event. Dean and Polly will advise HFAB when date and arrangements have
been decided.
IX. 2014 Grant Proposals for tree planting projects--None currently planned. Some grants
are not awarded to the same organization more than once every other year, so timing of
applications is important.
