City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 18, 2013 <br />Page 12 of 12 <br />Council member Sackett supported staff's recommendation. <br />Council member Loo commented she did not approve the signage and the City Council <br />asked for more choices on colors and design. She addressed branding and stated the <br />City already has branding on the letterhead. She stated the signage doesn't work and <br />changing the branding must have community buy -in. <br />Council member Jasiak stated the signage is a result of the best of intentions, but she <br />agreed it did not work. She felt what was needed was big directional signage. She <br />suggested concentrating on directional signage and putting the branding aside for now. <br />City Manager Fleming explained the staff brought the signage issue before the City <br />Council to receive direction. He suggested waiting for results of the parking analysis <br />would be helpful to the signage project. The design can then be revisited. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton agreed there can be improvements made to the signage. He <br />apologized to the Planning staff for the miscommunication. <br />City Manager Fleming stated branding is difficult because it is hard to please everyone. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br />No items to report. <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS, COMMITTEE REPORTS, AND IDENTIFICATION OF <br />FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton suggested a future agenda item include discussion on a code <br />revision to the historic preservation ordinance. The code includes a method for creating <br />a historic district, which does not adequately protect the rights of property owners. He <br />addressed the draft of the Jefferson Park Survey and the intonation recommending the <br />creation of a Jefferson Park Historic District. He felt the City Council should discuss this <br />matter at a study session. <br />ADJOURN <br />MOTION: Mayor Pro Tem Dalton moved for adjournment, seconded by Council member <br />Jasiak. . re in favor.
