He added a building assessment would need to be done prior to the <br />painting. <br />La Grave asked how long the process would take. <br />Robinson stated it would take about 3 months from the time of the landmark to receive <br />approval of the grant, which requires City Council approval. <br />Haley asked if there was a matching requirement in commercial grants. <br />Robinson stated there was then he gave a rundown of the grant amounts and when the <br />matching would be required. <br />Haley asked Villa if he was hoping to paint this summer, regardless of the grant or not. <br />Villa said his plan was to paint until he was approached by the HPC regarding the grant. <br />He stated he understands the concern of painting once only to find out more siding <br />would need to be removed requiring the building to be painted again. <br />Haley stated she believed this structure was definitely eligible for landmarking. She <br />stated she understands the building needs to be painted but she is concerned about the <br />building being painted twice. <br />Griffin asked if only the street facing facades could be painted. <br />Discussion ensued regarding Griffin’s idea. <br />Watson stated he is most interested in getting the sidewalk away from the building. <br />Haley asked if Villa had a preference on how to approach the project. <br />Villa said he liked the idea of only painting the street facing façade. <br />Stewart asked staff what the proposed landmark name was. <br />Robinson stated Lackner Tavern, because that is what the National Registry had. <br />Stewart stated he thought the building was named Germainia or Track Inn. <br />Robinson stated Lackner Tavern was what Bridget Bacon recommended. <br />Watson stated he should consider moving forward in painting the structure without the <br />grant. <br />Robinson reminded the HPC painting is limited to 10% of the preservation grant <br />amount. He stated the applicant could use the signing bonus to paint the street facing <br />façade and then come back through the appropriate grant process.
