Arboretum Pergola dedication—will take place on Friday, July 26 at 11:30 am. There <br />will be a grill for hot dogs; also cake and beverages. Susan will remind Council members <br />of event at upcoming meetings and study sessions. Chris will have a crew weed the xeric <br />garden; and HFAB members will follow up with cleanup and weeding, possibly on a <br />weekday evening during the week of July 8 or July 15. Mark will provide drawings of a <br />plan for the xeric garden renovation. <br /> <br />IX. Xeric Demonstration Garden renovation—for this growing season, the focus will be on <br />cleanup, weeding, and general maintenance. Discussion regarding plant replacement and <br />redesign will continue at future HFAB meetings. <br /> <br />X. 2014 Grant Proposals for tree planting projects—Chris discussed locations of new tree <br />plantings, requested input from HFAB members about possible locations for new or <br />replacement plantings. Susan commented that Via Appia is on the comprehensive plan for <br />“right-sizing,” which may affect the size of the medians and whether they can contain <br />trees—Chris will contact Troy Russ for clarification. <br /> <br />XI. Discussion items for next meeting on Thursday, August 1 (please note there will not be <br />a July HFAB meeting)—Xeric garden maintenance (including HFAB participation in <br />weeding) and renovation plans; review pergola dedication event; discuss Arboretum <br />planting zones (Chris to email zone map to members.) <br /> <br />XII.
