He did not object to short term solutions but asked that the long-term <br />solution be investigated. <br /> <br />David Slavin, 335 Eisenhower Drive, Louisville, CO, suggested additional costs for more <br />water usage. He stated that the revenue derived could pay for more water meter readers <br />and allow residents more flexibility on how they use the water. He also suggested an <br />advanced water meter system that could be read over the Internet, with the cost of the <br />meter being paid by the resident. <br /> <br />Chuck Hill, 233 Jackson Circle, Louisville, CO, concurred with Council members Van <br />Pelt and Mayer that the drought is a major concern and that a long-term solution should <br />be formulated. He agreed that residents should be given the freedom to manage their <br />allotted water. <br /> <br />Lynda Muhlbauer, 192 Regal Street, Louisville, CO, requested that ordinance have a <br />provision that limits future Councils from capriciously raising water rates. <br /> <br />Larry Baxley, 319 W. Hawthorn Court, Louisville, CO addressed the issue of winter <br />month consumption and peak summer months. He stated that where the average <br />Louisville household consumes 5,000 gallons on water per winter month, the average <br />Pine Wood Springs household consumes 2,500 gallons of water per month. He stressed <br />that they have learned to live within their water limits. He noted that it did not matter <br />how many people lived in the household, they are still limited to 2,500 gallons of water <br />per month. He offered to help educate the public on water conservation measures. <br /> <br />MOTION: Sisk moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1386, Series 2002, seconded <br />by Davidson. <br /> <br />Davidson offered a friendly amendment that a 4-year Sun Set clause be added. Sisk <br />suggested a 2-year Sun Set clause. <br /> <br />Davidson accepted the 2-year Sun Set clause. Sisk accepted the amendment. <br /> <br />Keany asked for clarification that the ordinance will Sun Set in two years and the rates <br />would be reviewed. <br /> <br />City Attorney Sam Light stated that in two years the ordinance would automatically be <br />repealed with the Sun Set clause. <br /> <br />VOTE: Roll call vote was taken. The motion passed by a vote of 7-0. <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons stated that two other related items are scheduled for the June <br />4, 2002 Agenda.
