City Council Meeting Minutes September 4, 2007 Page 4 of 15 Principal Adam Fels from the Louisville Middle School provided information on the upcoming Louisville Middle School Capital Improvement Project. He introduced Don Orr who will oversee all the school improvements proposed in the bond proposal. He describecl how the Design Advisory Team was formed to include the principal, teachers, parents, students and clerical staff. He updated Council on the design process aind invited the Mayor, City Council and the public to attend an open house at Louisville Middle School on Tuesday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditoriurri. Members of the Design Advisory Team will attend the open house, along with representatives from Slaterpaull Architects and Adolfson & Peterson Construction. He presented an overview of the Louisville Middle School Improvement Projject: • September 18, 2007 -~ Presentation/Open House to Louisville Community • October/November 2007 ~- Pre construction planning • January -May 2008 -~ Physical plant preparation • June 1, 2008 - Constructiion begins COUNCIL COMMENT Council member Muckle voiced Ihis desire to see the drawings and stated there is support for keeping the Louisville Middle School's historic facade. PUBLIC COMMENT Annie Hughes, 1405 Garfield Court, Louisville, CO supported green building and recycling building materials. Dori Orr thanked the citizens of Louisville for supporting the bond issue. He noted the building will follow the Leeds criteria. Destructed materials will be reused or recycled. Deborah Fahey, 1118 W. Enclave Circle, Louisville, CO voiced her concern over the materials containing asbestos and for the students attending classes during the remodel. Orr explained a mii:igation plan will be put together prior to any destruction of the building. DISCUSSION/DIRECTION -BUSINESS ASSISTANCE PROJECT ON PROJECT DELTA Becky Hogan, EDge Consulting„ 52 Steele Street, Denver, CO reported a business has expressed an interest in expanding in Louisville. The company provides consultative and distribution services within the pharmaceutical industry for non-personal promotion needs. Assistance is based upon retention of a quality business and utilization of existing new space. The total package is $18,613, based on 50% rebate of permit fees and 50% of commercial use tax.
