Matt Machado, having served as
associate member, was appointed as a full member and the Authority will ask for the
appointment of an associate member during the next interview process.
The Authority continues to review liquor license renewals, changes to licenses, special
event permits, and grant new licenses and transfers. Police department reports are
evaluated as presented to the Authority and hearings are ordered and held as
appropriate.
The Authority works annually with the Downtown Business Association to modify some
downtown businesses to include the addition of the street patios to their liquor licensed
premises for the summer months.
The Authority acted upon their responsibility for licensing of medical marijuana
businesses in the City of Louisville by granting local renewal approval of the two
licensed centers in Louisville in 2012 and again in 2013. They will also review proposed
local retail marijuana regulations.
The Authority appreciates the Louisville Police Department attendance at Authority
meetings and keeping the Authority informed on what they see happening in the local
liquor establishments. Sergeant Lanphere and Officer Redard have provided
outstanding support to the Authority.
Melinda Culley and Sam Light, City Attorney's office, continue to provide excellent
guidance to the Local Licensing Authority.
ATTACHMENT(S): 2012 Local Licensing Authority Annual Report
CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
2
