City Council Budget Retreat <br />Special Meeting Minutes <br />June 27, 2013 <br />Page 12 of 13 <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton supported a storage facility for the Louisville Museum. <br />Council member Loo asked how much storage is needed and whether a facility at the <br />current site would be sufficient. Library and Museum Director Barrett explained they <br />are assessing the needs and the appropriate method of storing historical items. <br />Council member Sackett supported more drinking fountains on the golf course.Mayor <br />Pro Tem Dalton supported more restroom facilities on the golf course. Parks and <br />Recreation Director Stevens noted the Golf Course Master Plan identified the need for <br />an additional restroom and drinking fountain. It is included in the Improvement Plan for <br />the Golf Course. He noted these facilities must be far away from the re-use water. <br />Council member Loo supported the addition of two more FTE Police Officers. Chief <br />Goodman stated two additional officers could be added to the dayshift and could assist <br />at the school. He felt four or five officers should be added. <br />Council member Loo inquired about the Washington Street Connection. City Manager <br />Fleming explained this is an open space trail across Washington Street where the <br />sidewalk stops. Council member Keany requested this as a priority. <br />Council member Loo inquired about the cataloging of historic items and stated her <br />understanding that this was a volunteer project. Library and Museum Director Barrett <br />stated they are looking at an intern position. <br />Council member Loo requested a study session if the Downtown Design Handbook is <br />updated and more information on the enhanced downtown streetscapes. <br />Council member Yarnell supported museum storage for historic preservation, the multi- <br />purpose fields and community gardens. She did not see the alignment of Main Street <br />as a high priority. She supported adding a staff member for the Arts, who could assist in <br />the Art Master Plan. <br />Council member Sackett addressed a previous comment about runners preferring to run <br />on a trail opposed to a City Street. He explained he lives right off the Coal Creek Trail <br />and notices runners, in City sponsored events, run in the street. <br />Council member Loo addressed the pedestrian,bike and mobility study and suggested <br />adding multi-modal to include motor vehicles.On sustainability she suggested adding <br />language, which promotes a voluntary approach. On community planning, she <br />suggested language to involve citizens and other interested parties. <br />Mayor Muckle agreed with adding language to the pedestrian, bike and mobility study to <br />add cars.
