Meeting Minutes <br />October 15, 2013 <br />Page 6 of 23 <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Jon Meng, 681 Augusta Drive, Louisville, CO,Treasurer of the <br />Golf Association,stressed time is of the essence to get the golf course operational <br />again. He noted there are 220 Summit members;83 from Louisville, and others from <br />Boulder County, Golden, Fort Collins and one member flies in from California. He <br />reviewed the number of tournaments held annually, the night leagues,the Wednesday <br />Morning Strokers Club and all the golfers affected by the golf course closure.He <br />requested a portion of the course be open for golfers.He addressed the Peaks Club <br />members whose money has not been refunded by Western Golf.He requested the <br />course be opened as soon as possible to keep golfers here in Louisville. <br />Lisa Norgard, 729 Ponderosa Court, Louisville, CO, President of the Coal Creek Ladies <br />League also stressed the importance of the golf course reopening as soon as possible. <br />She asked that nine contiguous holes be opened by next May or June. She stated they <br />have 101 members who come from Louisville, Boulder, Loveland, Denver, Arvada and <br />other cities in the Metro area.She stated the members are loyal to Coal Creek and are <br />either Peak Players or Summit members. She addressed the gift cards and although <br />they do not expire, she asked Council to give them cash. She requested the course be <br />opened as soon as possible. <br />Al Coleman, 702 Club Circle, Louisville, CO thanked the Council for taking serious <br />consideration of their requests and to Parks and Recreation Director Stevens for all his <br />hard work in rehabilitating the golf course. He requested a raise of hands from those in <br />the audience who were members of the Coal Creek Golf Club. Several hands were <br />raised.He supported the City taking over the golf course. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mayor Muckle stated staff is requesting the Council approve the design/build approach. <br />In terms of Western Golf,he felt it is important for the City to continue negotiations for <br />the insurance coverage to assist in the rehabilitation of the golf course. <br />City Manager Fleming stated the staff has a meeting with Bobby Heath from Western <br />Golf Properties and their attorney this Friday to discuss contract issues. <br />Mayor Muckle agreed the goal is to complete the rehabilitation of the golf course in the <br />most expeditious manner possible. With the design/build process, he felt there is a <br />potential to get a better design and a rapid redevelopment on the golf course. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton recognized the importance of getting the golf course open as <br />quickly as possible, but felt it should be fixed right to make it a great golf course, which <br />will attract the membership to return. <br />s are to get as much of the golf <br />course built as possible through a design/build approach while working with the flood <br />39 <br />
