He explained
that he sat on the round table discussions, along with thirty other people, that considered
improvements to the circular bus service through Louisville and Lafayette. He noted that
the meetings started last fall and were open to the public. He explained that part of the
funding for the Dash service is from a federal grant. He stated that he uses the 227-bus to
travel to Boulder and to connect to buses that take him to DIA. He noted that many
school children use to 227-bus to get to school. He recommended installing the Dash Bus
as scheduled, and monitor the service through the school year.

Anna Gardiner, 758 Owl Drive, Louisville, CO, voiced her support of the 227-bus and
the new Dash bus service. She stated that she also sat on the round-table discussions that
studied the Dash service and explained that the bus service would increase ridership and
reduce air pollution in the area. She stated that she is a graduate student at CU and uses
the buses daily. She stressed the importance of the bus route going through the
downtown Louisville.

Michael Siepmann, 758 Owl Drive, Louisville, CO, stated that he takes the 227 to
connect to buses to downtown Denver. He noted that the Pine Street residents
were not given notice of the Dash proposal. He reported on a petition signed by 130
residents (120 live within one block of Pine Street) that do not want the Dash bus service.
He stated that in the year 2000, 90 buses per day traveled along Pine Street. In 2001, the
number increased to 150-buses per day and that Dash would increase the number of buses
to over 200. He stated that the RTD buses are louder and faster and travel at a speed of
45 mph along Pine Street. He stressed that such speed is a danger to young children
walking to the Louisville Elementary School. He stated that safety; noise and air
pollution concerns will increase with the number of buses along Pine Street.
