Louisville City Council Meeting <br />July 16, 2002 <br />Page 17 <br /> <br />Light stated he preferred Mr. Gleason and the Colorado Springs firm, due to their current <br />involvement with respect to litigation of fbe issues. He noted that both firms have been <br />involved in litigation and very capable. <br /> <br />Mayer concurred with Council member Sisk and stated he would prefer to have the City <br />Attorney choose his co-counsel. <br /> <br />Light explained that the next step in the litigation is to file a response to the complaint by <br />the end of July and from there, the discovery process begins. <br /> <br />Davidson stated that some part of the fee is not justifiable, and suggested the consultant <br />recommend a negotiated fee. He stated in that respect, co-counsel would not be required. <br /> <br />Light stated that the consultant is reviewing the fee, however, in the short-term, the Court <br />requires that the complaint be answered. He explained that he would require some <br />assistance in the preparing the response to the complaint. <br /> <br />MOTION: Davidson moved that Council approve the appointment of special counsel to <br />assist in the Centennial II lawsuit. Roll call vote was taken. The motion passed by a vote <br />of 6-0. Brown excused. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported that the July 23, 2002 Special Meeting will include <br />the Capital Improvements Project budget. He reminded Council that Staff would be <br />hosting a public meeting regarding the site plan for the new police station, at Via Appia <br />and McCaslin. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. at <br />the Louisville Recreation Center. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Sis reminded Council of the Senior Ice Cream Social, which will be held on Monday, <br />July 22, 2002, at Memory Square Park.
