Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by <br /> a vote of 7-0. <br /> RESOLUTION No. 13, SERIES 2013 — A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE <br /> RESTAS HOUSE LOCATED AT 1131 SPRUCE STREET A HISTORIC LANDMARK — <br /> Public Hearing <br /> Mayor Muckle opened the public hearing and requested a staff presentation. <br /> Planner I Robinson stated this request is to landmark a historic residential structure <br /> located at 1131 Spruce Street and built around 1942. This property is part of east <br /> Louisville, which was platted in 1906. The building is currently owned by the applicant, <br /> Jean Morgan, and is used as a residence. The property was purchased in 1940 by Joe <br /> Restas, who was born in Hungary and worked as a miner at the Centennial and <br /> Monarch mines in Louisville. <br /> The building has maintained basic architectural integrity although the structure had two <br /> additions on the west side, one in the early 1950s and the other in 1986. The original <br /> attached garage was also converted to living space. The form of the original house and <br /> garage is evident on the east side. The original faux-brick siding has been covered with <br /> aluminum siding. The roof material is not original however it still retains its original form. <br /> The door on the east façade appears to be in the original location, but the windows on <br /> the south façade do not. The original chimney has been lost. Overall, the basic form of <br /> the original portion has been maintained, and the original siding is still present under the <br /> aluminum siding, giving it architectural integrity. Staff found this application complies <br /> with the following criteria: Architectural Significance — Style particularly associated with <br /> the Louisville area. Social Significance - Exemplifies cultural, political, economic or <br /> social heritage of the community. <br /> APPLICANT PRESENTATION <br /> Jean Morgan, 1131 Spruce Street, Louisville, CO stated the home still has some <br /> original window panes, hardware and interior doors. With respect to the social <br /> significance, she met Joe Restas and has been told at one time the area was called <br /> Little Bulgaria. Her husband was a teacher and she was a substitute teacher for <br /> Boulder Valley School District. She has lived in the home for 40 years and has <br /> 30 <br />
