Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
November 13, 2013
D There is an area that was dedicated on the plat for open space
purposes. The intent was to use the property as a trail.
c Since that time, there has been a study that suggests that that trail
is no longer in an ideal location.
D Instead, the City is proposing swapping a portion of the original
land dedication with RMCS's Lanterns parcel. This would allow the
City to obtain an interest in, and build a trail in, the property that will
be used to connect to the proposed Hwy 42 underpass.
c This land swap would not create a full trail corridor, and there would
need to be additional interest obtained in order to have a full,
connected corridor. However, there are a couple of ways that this
could happen — there are two separate properties that could be
used.
• Unanimous approval of the land swap.
IX. Discussion Item: New Trails Open House
• Tom went to the Planning Commission.
o Member of the public discussed social trails on the North Open
Space. He and asked about keeping those trails maintained during
the winter.
Suggestion to keep Coal Creek Trail along the Creek itself.
Tom reported that he got a solid response from both the
Commission and the public in attendance.
• Laura was at the Golf Course Advisory Board, Library Booth and the
Sustainability Board.
o Board members expressed interest in perimeter trails.
o Laura also heard comments related to keeping Coal Creek Trail
along the Creek in the Golf Course.
o Laura said that she wasn't able to get many comments from the
Golf Course Advisory Board, since the meeting she had attended
was the first since the flood.
• Laura brought up the point that this may be a great time to suggest that
Coal Creek trail be rerouted through Coal Creek Golf Course, since the
Golf Course rehabilitation planning is still in the nascent phase.
• Recommendation: OSAB requests that, during the development of plans
for the rehabilitation of the Coal Creek Golf Course, Staff include options
to realign the Coal Creek Trail to remain within the Coal Creek corridor
between Dutch Creek and the Dillon Rd. Bridge, without going through the
St. Andrews Road neighborhood area.
o Unanimously passed the recommendation.
4
