The proposed addition will be compatible with the existing building while clearly being of
a later era. The scale and location are subordinate to the existing structure. The
addition will allow the continued use of the existing structure to be practical, contributing
to its preservation. Staff finds the criteria for an alteration certificate are met and
recommends approval.
RECOMMENDATION:
The total amount of the grant requested, $256,000, is the maximum allowed under
Resolution No. 2, Series 2012. That includes $181,000 to be spent on the existing
structure at 740 Front Street, and $75,000 for the construction of an addition. Staff finds
the grant requests comply with the requirements set forth by City Council, and
recommends approval. The requested alteration certificate will allow the completion of
the rehabilitation work and the construction of addition. Staff finds the request complies
with the requirements of the Louisville Municipal Code and recommends approval. Staff
recommends approval of Resolution No. 1, Series 2014, approving an alteration
certificate and recommending City Council approval of grants totaling $256,000.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION AND INFORMATION:
Attached for your review are the following supporting documents:
1. Resolution No. 1, Series 2014
2. Application
3. Structural assessment
4. Cost estimates
5. Photos
6. Proposed addition plans
6
