Alternate pricing for the City of Louisville to provide all trash, recycling and compost <br />carts. All cart related services (exchange, repair, storage, etc.), excluding parts, would <br />be the responsibility of the Contractor. <br />Alternate pricing for providing all services with Natural Gas powered trucks if available <br />Alternate pricing for the Contractor to provide centrally located 30 or 40 cubic yard roll <br />off containers for the autumn collection of leaves and yard waste. This material would <br />be integrated with household compostable materials <br />Recyclable and Compostable Material <br />3.3 <br />Recyclable material shall be delivered to the Boulder County Recycling Center (BCRC), or other <br />facilities that may be designated by City Council. Recyclables shall be collected in material <br />streams acceptable to the BCRC, commingled according to what is mutually acceptable to the <br />City, the contractor and the BCRC. The contractor shall base his proposal on every other week <br />collection of recyclables. The recyclables will be composed of cardboard, newspaper, glass <br />bottles, plastic containers and similar items generated by typical single family homes. The <br />recyclable materials will remain the property of the City. Consequently, all revenues received <br />from or costs due to the Boulder County Recycling Center for the City’s recyclable materials, <br />shall be the City’s. By household, recyclables are to be collected on the same day of the week as <br />trash. <br />Compostable material shall be delivered and processed in a facility designated and approved by <br />the City. Compostables shall be collected in material streams acceptable for composting <br />according to what is mutually acceptable to the City, the contractor and the compostable <br />recycling facility. The contractor shall base their proposal on every other week collection of <br />compostables. The compostables will consist of yard waste, food scraps, paper towels and <br />similar items generated by typical single family homes. The compostable materials shall become <br />the property of the Contractor with the following limitation. The contractor will make a <br />minimum of one-half cubic yard of finished compost available to each household at no cost. The <br />Contractor may either distribute the finished compost from its own site of deliver the bulk <br />material to a City site where City staff will oversee its distribution. By household, compostables <br />are to be collected on the same day of the week as trash. <br />Proposal will describe programs and incentives that Contactor has implemented or is willing to <br />implement for the City of Louisville to increase the diversion rates above historical numbers <br />Collection Carts <br />3.4 <br />TRASH/RECYCING/COMPOST <br />carts – Contractor will provide all carts. Contractor shall <br />provide information to the City about what types and sizes of carts will be provided to the <br />customers, how requests for cart repair and replacement will be handled and how changes in cart <br />size will be accommodated. <br />Current cart mix (mix is subject to change based on time of year and customer preferences): <br />Type/cart size 96 64 32 <br />Trash 12% 48% 40% <br />Recyclables 60% 26% 14% <br />Compostables 9% 46% 45% <br />RFP – Residential Solid Waste Collection City of Louisville <br />12 <br />
