<br />3 , <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. . 1044 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE HAKING THE POSITION OF CITY CLERK <br />APPOINTIVE RATHER THAN ELECTIVE IF APPROVED BY <br />THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, AND <br />CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION THEREON. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, state law permits the City Council of the City of <br />Louisville to submit for the approval of the registered electors <br />of Louisville a proposal that the position of City Clerk be made <br />appointive rather than elective, the appointments to be made by the <br />City Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the registered <br />electors of Louisville should be given the opportunity to decide <br />whether the position of City Clerk should be appointive rather than <br />elective. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. Sections 2.20.010, 2.20.040, and 2.36.010.A. <br />of the Louisville Code are amended as follows (words proposed to <br />be added appear in capital letters; words proposed to be deleted <br />are stricken through): <br /> <br />2.20.010 Election - Salary - Bond. <br /> <br />A. A city clerk shall be clected at each general <br />municipal election APPOINTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL IN <br />THE SAME MANNER AS PROVIDED IN CHAPTER 2.04 FOR <br />OTHER APPOINTIVE OFFICES. <br /> <br />B. The city clerk shall reccived, as full compensation <br />for his servicco, the rmm of one thousand eight; <br />hundred dollars per year, payable in cqual monthly <br />payments. <br /> <br />€oB. Before entering upon the duties of the office, the <br />clerk shall furnish a surety bond to be approved by <br />the council in the amount of ten thousand dollars, <br />condi tioned upon the faithful discharge of his <br />duties as city clerk, and when he vacates such <br />office he will turn over and deliver to his <br />successor all remaining moneys, books, papers, <br />property or things belonging to the city and <br />remaining in his hands as such clerk.
