3 , ORDINANCE NO. . 1044 AN ORDINANCE HAKING THE POSITION OF CITY CLERK APPOINTIVE RATHER THAN ELECTIVE IF APPROVED BY THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, AND CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION THEREON. WHEREAS, state law permits the City Council of the City of Louisville to submit for the approval of the registered electors of Louisville a proposal that the position of City Clerk be made appointive rather than elective, the appointments to be made by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the registered electors of Louisville should be given the opportunity to decide whether the position of City Clerk should be appointive rather than elective. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: Section 1. Sections 2.20.010, 2.20.040, and 2.36.010.A. of the Louisville Code are amended as follows (words proposed to be added appear in capital letters; words proposed to be deleted are stricken through): 2.20.010 Election - Salary - Bond. A. A city clerk shall be clected at each general municipal election APPOINTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE SAME MANNER AS PROVIDED IN CHAPTER 2.04 FOR OTHER APPOINTIVE OFFICES. B. The city clerk shall reccived, as full compensation for his servicco, the rmm of one thousand eight; hundred dollars per year, payable in cqual monthly payments. €oB. Before entering upon the duties of the office, the clerk shall furnish a surety bond to be approved by the council in the amount of ten thousand dollars, condi tioned upon the faithful discharge of his duties as city clerk, and when he vacates such office he will turn over and deliver to his successor all remaining moneys, books, papers, property or things belonging to the city and remaining in his hands as such clerk.
