<br />Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday, February 6, 2014 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br /> 7:00 <br />PM <br />I.Call to Order: Chair Mike Frontzcak called the meeting to order at 7:12 PM. <br />II.Roll call: Mike Frontzcak, Erik Gustafson, Gina Lopez, Ellen Toon, Shelly Alm, Neal <br />Griggsmiller. Board members absent: Mark Newland, Beverlee White. Staff member <br />present: Dean Johnson. City Council member present: Susan Loo. <br />III.Agenda approved by all members. <br />IV.Minutes from January 9 approved. <br />V.Public comments <br />a.Urban forestry public involvement ideas presented by Gina. <br />b.Susan Loo: City website is taking comments for website design. Mike: Increase <br />HFAB visibility and Arboretum visibility by including map and pavilion picture. <br />c.Shelly will ask contacts for downtown flower pot design. <br />d.Susan Loo: Steel Ranch area optometry office tree lawn/parking strip question. <br />Allowed? Dean responds that city permits tree lawns. Discussion of right-of-way <br />codes and who is responsible for tree lawn maintenance. Suggestion to revisit <br />maintenance guidelines with planning commission (Mike). <br />e.Discussion of underpass connecting Steel Ranch to rest of city. Susan <br />f.Discussion of whether city has laws against planting invasives on private property. <br />Louisville has no such law. Only condemnable trees are hazard trees. City can <br />request right-of-way trees not be invasive. <br />g.Eric asked if city sends newsletter of suggested trees. No, but there is a list of <br />recommended trees, possible online. <br />VI.Election of officers. Beverly and Ellen – co-secretaries.
