City Council Finance Committee Meeting Minutes 02/18/14 Page 2 of 3 NON-PROFIT GRANT PROGRAM – FINANCE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR 2014 Finance Director Watson provided the Finance Committee with the documentation to be presented to the full Council February 18, 2014. Also included was a January 28, 2014 letter from Ms. Shari Edelstein outlining possible recommendations for the future nonprofit allocation process. SALES TAX REPORTS FOR THE MONTH ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2013 The Tax Manager presented the monthly, quarterly and year-end sales tax reports for the period ended December 31, 2013. The Tax Manager also requested authorization to write-off $166.31 in uncollectable tax, penalty and interest amounts. The Finance Committee approved the request. The Tax Manager requested feedback from Committee members as to whether the current reporting detail, charts, and graphs provide sufficient information. Council Member Stolzmann and City Manager Fleming stated that they would be interested in having the area revenues for Downtown and Pine Street combined, and the revenues for the areas of McCaslin North and the Interchange combined. Council Member Keany stated that he would like to see the building use tax revenue received from building permits allocated to the Capital Projects fund or for other one-time projects, and not to the General Fund which is typically used for ongoing operations.
