Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
March 17, 2014
Hunsacker asked about the design assistance.
Watson stated he or Stewart could assist.
Haley mentioned there is a Social History created for the house.
Hunsacker asked if they thought the proposed design falls within the guidelines.
Stewart stated he believed it was going in the right directions but could use some
tweaks on the roof design as well as a few other minor modifications.
Watson recommended some books for the owner to use.
PUBLIC HEARING — None
Discussion — Preservation Master Plan
Robinson presented the outline from the packet. He added staff will do most of the work but
will hire a consultant to do some of the technical work. The other option is to hire a consultant
to do all of the work.
Echohawk stated she likes the idea of having the staff to do most of the work with a consultant.
Watson stated CU also has some grad students who can help.
Echohawk agreed it was a great idea to use some grad students.
Fahey would like to see public input from the start.
Stewart stated staff did a good job creating the outline, and liked using primarily staff with a
backup of a consultant and grad students. He stated the public needs to understand there is
some flexibility to achieve our goals, but we also have regulations to follow.
Watson asked what the next steps were.
Robinson stated he will contact CU for students then put out an RFP for the consultant.
Watson asked staff to determine what holes they would need a consultant to fill.
Stewart asked how Council would need of be involved.
Robinson stated the money has already been budgeted but Council would probably need to
approve the contract.
Fahey asked about the new planning person and how the process is coming along.
Robinson stated we short listed 6 and will have interviews on April 1St. He stated Watson will
be on the panel.
