[011 OR <br />CitYstl <br />LOU1SVille <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM 111 <br />SUBJECT: <br />ANNUAL REPORT — SENIORS OF LOUISVILLE ADVISORY <br />BOARD <br />DATE: APRIL 22, 2014 <br />PRESENTED BY: JULIE STONE, CHAIR OF SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD <br />LIST HIGHLIGHTS AND SUCCESSES OF THE PAST YEAR: <br />In 2013, responsibility for the Heat Relief Dinner as well as the Silent Auction was <br />transferred to the Senior Advisory Board (SAB) after the Louisville Senior Foundation <br />dissolved. <br />SAB successfully: <br />• Raised $20,478 at the Heat Relief Dinner and Silent Auction in 2013 and 2014. <br />• Completed 501(c) (3) tax exempt status with the IRS. <br />• Added to the Chamber web site as Seniors of Louisville and will be listed in next <br />year's Chamber Community Guide Directory. <br />WHAT WORKED WELL FOR YOUR BOARD THIS PAST YEAR? <br />• The Louisville business community continues to support the Heat Relief Dinner <br />and Silent Auction. <br />• SAB continues to have many volunteers and great sponsors for this 14th annual <br />fundraiser. <br />• This year, the National Junior Honor Society of Louisville Middle School held a <br />fundraiser scavenger hunt for the Heat Relief Dinner and presented SAB with a <br />check for $500. <br />WHAT DID NOT WORK WELL FOR YOUR BOARD THIS PAST YEAR? <br />• SAB lost a board member and were unable to recruit a replacement. <br />• Need a strategy and need to better reach out to the "Baby Boomer" population. <br />LIST PLANS /GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR: <br />• Savor the Favor day with local restaurants — Blue Parrot on June 12, 2014. <br />c 15% of sales will be donated to Seniors of Louisville. <br />• The 15th Heat Relief Dinner and Silent Auction will be a major fundraiser. <br />• To help increase fundraising, we would like to include addressed envelopes with <br />the flyers for the Heat Relief Dinner and Silent Auction in next January's water <br />bills. <br />IN WHAT AREAS DO YOU NEED CITY COUNCIL INPUT /FEEDBACK? <br />• We would like the City Council's view of what senior needs, issues, and <br />requirements are so that the SAB can best address areas for our support. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />18 <br />
